Routine

At Pinocchio’s every day is different, but children thrive on routine, therefore each day shares a common structure:

The Day starts at 8.50am when the children arrive for the morning session, a selection of activities will be set out, both indoors and outdoors. Children can ‘free-flow’ between activities, choosing one for the whole session or spending only a few minutes at each. Activities could include:

  • Nature and science
  • Mark-making
  • Painting and sticking
  • Role play and dressing up
  • Jigsaws and puzzles
  • Number activities
  • Shapes
  • Play dough and sensory play
  • Bikes and scooters
  • Climbing, sliding and balancing
  • Sand and and water play
  • Gardening
  • Mud kitchen
  • Singing and dancing
  • Stories and rhymes
  • Musical instruments
  • Construction
  • ICT
  • Pre-reading and writing

We go outside whatever the weather so we request that children always come dressed prepared to play outside and have a spare change of clothes.

Half way through the morning session children have a mid-morning snack. Read more about this on the Meals page.

Lunch is from 11.20am – 11.50am. Children sit at tables with their friends and eat the packed lunch which has been provided by their parents. Read more about our Healthy Eating Policy on the Meals Page. At 11.50am the children pack away their lunchboxes, and go back outside for lunchtime play.

The afternoon session starts at 12.20pm. New activites are set out, and again children can ‘free-flow’ between indoors and outdoors.

Finally, the children are offered an afternoon snack before their parents arrive to collect them at 2.50pm.
